Sebastian Vargas is not unlike thousands of other high school seniors with college football dreams, players who figured they’d be headed to the next level with a scholarship.
Vargas, a receiver at Oviedo, thought this would be his year to get noticed. He transferred from Winter Park looking to be an instrumental part of the Lions’ passing game and an offense that was better suited to show off his skills.
So much for that. The coronavirus pandemic hit and everything leading up to his senior year was washed away as cancellations became the norm.
There was no spring football, no 7-on-7 tournaments, no prospect camps, no college campus visits … and on and on.
