When UCF announced the hiring of South Florida coaching legend Randy Shannon as its new defensive coordinator in December, the same day it had hired Josh Heupel as the new head coach, many people were quick to poo-poo Shannon’s ability to become a recruiting force for the Knights in the Miami area.
UCF’s most recent pair of commitments to the 2019 class, however, bring those naysayers a bit closer to reality.
The Knights landed Miami Central linebacker Tatum Bethune about three weeks ago and this past Friday, another Dade County prospect joined the mix with the pledge of Carol City receiver Amari Johnson.
