Alexander Cartwright was selected as UCF’s sixth president on March 20; just about the time when colleges, universities and the nation as a whole began shutting down en masse because of the global pandemic.
Cartwright also took over during these politically and racially charged times when college students and athletes are passionately protesting the social injustices in our country.
Dr. Cartwright took time out earlier this week to speak to me about his first few months on the job, his philosophy on college athletics, UCF’s rising enrollment even during the pandemic and his formative years growing up in the Bahamas.
