All these years later, Jacksonville Jaguars legend Tony Boselli is still protecting his team’s quarterbacks.
Boselli, who deserves to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of the greatest offensive linemen of his era, has been a staunch defender of Bortles amid some incredibly inane criticism.
This isn’t to say Bortles, the former Oviedo High and UCF star, doesn’t deserve to be slammed at times because of his erratic play, but the verbal berating and bludgeoning he takes has gotten out of hand.
For instance, Chris Simms, the former Tampa Bay Bucs backup quarterback who is now an NFL analyst for Bleacher Report, went on the nationally syndicated Dan Le Batard Show show recently and said Bortles is only the “70th-best quarterback” in the NFL.
