After watching new UCF coach Gus Malzahn address a packed house at the Orlando Touchdown Club earlier this week at the historic Taproom at Dubsdread, I am now convinced this will be Malzahn’s last coaching stop.
Malzahn let it be known that unlike his two predecessors — Scott Frost and Josh Heupel — he is looking at UCF as a final destination instead of temporary steppingstone. At age 55, Malzahn said his plan is to coach at UCF for “eight to 10 years” and then decide if he wants to retire or not. He told a crowd filled with UCF fans that he believes he can turn the Knights into a perennial top 10 program and a national title contender.
