Former UCF star Shaquem Griffin cut by Seattle Seahawks

Griffin, who has played defensive end and linebacker, was mostly used as a special teams player. He had a memorable playoff sack of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in January. During the past two seasons, Griffin recorded 16 tackles.

His twin brother, Shaquill Griffin, made the Seattle roster and is a starter at left cornerback in the final year of his rookie contract.

NFL teams had to cut rosters to 53 players Saturday. If no other NFL team picks up Shaquem Griffin and he clears waivers, Seattle can add him to its practice squad. NFL practice squads have been expanded from 10 to 16 players this year to provide depth in case a team runs into any COVID-19 issues.
