A fifth former Auburn Tiger is reuniting with head coach Gus Malzahn in Orlando as a member of the UCF football program.
Former Kentucky quarterback Joey Gatewood, who began his college career at Auburn, announced his decision to transfer to UCF on Sunday via social media.
“Blessed to be a part of @UCF_Football,” Gatewood wrote on Twitter. “Fired up about the opportunity and ready to get to work!”
With classes for the fall semester at UCF beginning Monday, Gatewood has enrolled at the university, a source told the Orlando Sentinel. While he’s a student at UCF, it’s unclear if Gatewood will be immediately eligible to play this season for the Knights.
