The express train called UCF football is zooming toward a fork in the track of modern day college football.
One path allows the Knights to bask in the riches of the Power 5 business class section. The other keeps UCF begging for extra peanuts in coach along with its Group of 5 peers.
And while there might be a few VIP seats opening up in the Big 12 one day, former UCF athletic director Steve Sloan doesn't believe the school will get a coveted ticket to an elite conference. He knows it.
"UCF has enough students, enough stature, enough availability to recruit talent, enough history that UCF probably should be in one of the top conferences," said Sloan, who served as the Knights' athletics director from 1993-2002.
