UCF is in midst of conducting a national search for its new athletic director, but that search should start right here on the local level. Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports and a UCF alum, should be the No. 1 candidate for the job for three important reasons: (1) Power 5; (2) Power 5; (3) Power 5.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, everything else in UCF's athletic department pales in comparison right now to Power 5 expansion. If UCF doesn't get into a big-time football league soon, the school's athletic program will shrivel up into irrelevance.
