BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The UAB men’s basketball team clinched the Conference USA regular-season title with a 71-67 victory over Western Kentucky to close out their home schedule at Bartow Arena.
“A combination of securing at least a share of the conference championship, sending Robert Brown out in the right way and ending the conference season, at home anyway with a win, all those things made today truly special,” said head coach Jerod Haase.
Brown, the Blazers’ only senior, was honored after the game with a standing ovation from the fans. After transferring from Virginia Tech to complete the final two seasons of his college playing career in Birmingham, Brown praises Coach Haase for the opportunity he’s been given.
