Wendel (1955-59) was a Class of 2000 inductee into The University of Tulsa Athletic Hall of Fame. He starred on the Golden Hurricane basketball varsity for three years and earned all-conference accolades twice. The guard earned honorable mention All-America accolades, while leading Tulsa in scoring his final two seasons with 17.5 and 18.8 averages. Wendel was also the team leader in free throw percentage during his final two seasons.
