IRVING, Texas –– The University of Tulsa freshman football student-athlete Bryson Powers is one of 35 finalists from around the country for the 2017 NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award, it was announced today by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF).
Powers, from Klein Collins High School in Spring, Texas, is one of eight finalists from the South Region. It marks the third straight year that a Tulsa freshman football student-athlete has been a finalist for the distinguished award. In 2015, quarterback Will Hefley was the South Region winner of the 2015 NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award, and last year tight end David Fitzwater was named a finalist in the South Region.
