This year marks the 25th anniversary of The University of Tulsa's departure from the Missouri Valley Conference. Tulsa's membership in the league started in 1930 and concluded after the 1995-96 athletic season. Although the Golden Hurricane football team left the Valley for independent status after the 1985 campaign, the gridders still won 25 MVC titles over the years. For the next 10 seasons, the Hurricane basketball led the way through the league for the school's other sports until the Western Athletic Conference became the new home for Tulsa beginning in the fall of 1996.
Bruce Howard takes us back 25 years as Tulsa put a cap on its more than 60 years in the Missouri Valley Conference.
