Twenty years after winning its first NIT Championship the 2001 Tulsa Golden Hurricane repeated history. Tulsa opened the tournament with a 75-71 home win over UC Irvine before grabbing road wins at Minnesota and Mississippi State, thus advancing to the NIT's Final Four at New York's Madison Square Garden.
