This Golden Moment features the history of The University of Tulsa's home football stadium, H.A. Chapman Stadium, and the 90th anniversary of the stadium's opening as Skelly Field in 1930.
Ground-breaking ceremonies were held on May 11 and the season kicked off occurred on October 4, 1930, as Tulsa hosted Arkansas in front of a crowd of 13,000. On the opening kickoff, Arkansas fumbled and Johnny Potts recovered for Tulsa. Billy Boehm scored on the very next play for the first touchdown in the north end of the stadium. Chet Benefiel scored the first TD in the south end zone and Tulsa went on for a 26-6 victory.
