Golden Moments in Tulsa History

This Golden Moment focuses on a student-athlete who wasted little time in establishing himself as a star in the nation's most rugged basketball league the Missouri Valley Conference. Dana Lewis was a 6-10, 240-pound center who averaged 20.3 points and 11.8 rebounds in the 1969-70 season, thus earning MVC Newcomer of the Year accolades. A year later, Lewis led the Valley in scoring with a 23.3 average and grabbed a team-high 13.5 rebounds. After that junior campaign, Lewis would head off to the NBA.
