NEW YORK, NY— Former University of Tulsa tennis standout Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador) and doubles partner Giulianna Olmas (Mexico) won their Mixed Doubles semifinal match at the U.S. Open on Wednesday afternoon at Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Arevalo and Olmas took down the team of Max Purcell (Australia) and Dayana Yastremska (Ukraine) to advance the U.S. Open Finals. The duo battled back after losing the first set 6-4. Arevalo and Olmos tied the match at 6-4 in the second set and clinched the match 10-6 in the final set.
Arevalo and Olmas will face the winner of Friday's semifinal match between Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek, both of the United States, and Desirae Krawczyk (USA) and Joe Salisbury (Great Britain).
