Tulane's Jonathan Banks: 'Nothing was going to stop me from playing quarterback'

Jonathan Banks still remembers the exact moment he wanted to become a quarterback.

Tulane's new starting signal-caller was born and raised in Houston, and he tried his hand at several different sports as a kid. But football quickly became his top priority after an 8-year-old Banks watched what he still calls "the best game I've ever seen."

That game was the 2006 BCS National Championship, a star-studded affair that included former Heisman Trophy winner Vince Young, Banks' favorite quarterback during his childhood years.

Texas and USC went back and forth in an epic battle that night and it ended with Young's infamous game-winning touchdown run in the final seconds.
