Going into his first season as head coach at Tulane, one of Willie Fritz's main focuses was to eliminate some of the back-breaking mistakes on special teams that haunted the Green Wave over the past few seasons.
Through the first five weeks of the 2016 season, it seemed as if the Green Wave (3-4, 0-3) made great strides in improving its play in the kicking game, but it took a step back with three muffed punts that resulted turnovers over the last two games.
Tulane running back Dontrell Hilliard muffed two punts in the first half of the team's 24-14 loss to Memphis, but the Tigers were only able to convert those two turnovers into three points.
