A couple of Tulane's newest starters are poised to play significant roles in the Green Wave's season opener against Grambling State, and neither one can wait to get on the field Saturday night at Yulman Stadium.
Junior college transfer Jonathan Banks takes over under center for an offense that struggled to find consistency in 2016, but the signal-caller said the Tigers pose a stout challenge.
"They are very athletic," Banks said. "They have the ability to move around and play fast, so we've got to come out and execute. We can't make any mistakes."
The Tigers allowed fewer than 16 points per game last season, and a big reason for that was a Grambling offense that averaged more than 45 points per game en route to an 11-1 mark.
