Tulane and the University of Connecticut will be playing in each team's regular-season finale on Saturday, but neither team will be having aspirations to play past that day.
Both the Green Wave and the Huskies go into their American Athletic Conference matchup with 3-8 records and the hopes of reaching a bowl game are long gone, but that doesn't mean Saturday's game is meaningless for either team.
Tulane coach Willie Fritz would say quite the opposite.
"We're playing for pride," he said. "I can't think of anything more important to play for."
Things have fallen apart for Tulane in the final stretch of the season and it goes into the last game of the season riding a six-game losing streak, but finding a way to win on Saturday can provide somewhat of a silver lining around what's been a very disappointing second half of the year.
