Tulane stumbles to an 18-5 series finale loss to West Virginia

Tulane baseball dropped the series finale to West Virginia, 18-5, Sunday afternoon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Green Wave (3-8) clinched the series with 9-8 and 6-0 wins Friday and Saturday, respectively, but on Sunday the Mountaineers (7-4) scored 18 runs on 20 hits to win the third game. WVU plated three runs in the first inning and five in the third, then added eight in the middle frames and a run in the ninth. Tulane scored twice in each of the second and third innings, and added a run in the eighth.

"We were chasing four (runs) right out of the gate, but we answered back with a big home run.
