In an upset for the ages, Tulane men’s basketball (9-16, 2-10 American Athletic Conference) snapped its 6-game losing streak Wednesday night as the Wave overcame the East Carolina Pirates (10-13, 2-9 AAC) 100-92 in triple overtime in Greenville, North Carolina.
After trailing or being tied with the Pirates for all but 14 seconds of regulation, Tulane came back in the final minutes and a jumper from senior guard Louis Dabney tied the game up 71-71 with just 0:03 left on the clock, pushing the teams into the first overtime.
Within the first two overtimes, the Wave and the Pirates exchanged leads several times to drag out the play into 3OT.
