After a 7-run fifth inning, which included a grand slam by Hunter Hope, Tulane held on to tip-toe past Southern Mississippi Wednesday and get a 10-8 win in Turchin Stadium.
The Green Wave started swinging right out of the gate. In the first inning, both Lex Kaplan and Grant Witherspoon scored on Sal Gozzo's single. The drive continued in the third inning when Jarret DeHart scored on a single by Grant Brown.
"We've been finding the grass in the outfield, as I like to say," said Tulane coach Travis Jewett. "The kids came out ready to go today, and I'm very proud of them.
