Tulane kept things close as long as they could, but a Navy touchdown with less than three minutes left in the game handed the Green Wave a 21-14 loss in their first America Athletic Conference opener at Yulman Stadium on Saturday night.
Navy (3-0, 2-0 in the AAC) cruised to a 31-14 win over the Green Wave last season, but Saturday's game was a defensive battle that came all the way down to the end.
After Tulane kicker Andrew DiRocco missed a 45-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter, the Green Wave (1-2, 0-1 in AAC) left the door open for Navy to make a late comeback.
