The matchup between the Memphis offense and the Tulane defense is one of the most highly anticipated aspects Friday's game at Yulman Stadium between the two teams, but Tulane coach Willie Fritz knows much of the game will probably be decided when the two units are off the field.
The first-year coach is hoping that the Green Wave defense (ranked No. 13 nationally in total defense) can cancel out the potent Memphis offense (ranked No. 11 nationally in scoring offense), but Fritz knows he will need an equally strong performance from his offense to win.
Tulane coach Willie Fritz believes that most good teams find a way to be good in all three phases of the game and he views Memphis as a prime example of that theory.
