Southern knocks off Tulane 90-82

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Adrian Rodgers scored 20 points and Jared Sam added 17 as Southern University, which upset Mississippi State 76-72 on Monday, knocked off Tulane 90-82 on Thursday night.

Christopher Hyder added 15 points, Shawn Prudhomme chipped in 13 and Trelun Banks had 12 for the Jaguars (2-1).

Tulane, which opened the season with a 68-67 overtime loss to Alabama A&M and then beat Drake, 79-74 in overtime on Monday, could not stay with the Jaguars down the stretch.

Southern led 39-35 at the half and stretched that to 75-64 with 6:47 remaining in the game.
