Pelicans squander another historic Anthony Davis performance, fall 122-114 to the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant combined to score 81 points and helped their team pull away in the fourth quarter to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans 122-114 on Friday night at the Smoothie King Center.

Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis followed up his 50-point performance in the season opener with 45 points and 17 rebounds on Friday night, but he couldn't get quite enough help from his teammate to get over the hump against the explosive Warriors (1-1) offense.

The Pelicans (0-2) came back from a double-digit deficit to grab the momentum and cut the Warriors lead down to 107-99 after a dunk by Davis with 4:26 remaining in the game, but the Warriors quickly responded to put things away.
