ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Tulane quarterback Jonathan Banks was knocked hard to the ground, trying to dodge a pair of Navy defensive linemen.
The trainers immediately ran onto the field when he stayed down on the turf. Banks was not able to return and the Green Wave's spirited comeback fell short in a 23-21 loss to the Midshipmen in the American Athletic Conference opener Saturday.
"I thought our guys really fought back," Tulane coach Willie Fritz said. "We had some big plays in there that we converted to get back in the ballgame, which was great. I'm proud of the guys and their effort, and everything else.
