Rivals and 247Sports rated the 6-6, 215-pound forward from Lakewood, Ohio a three-star prospect. He was also ranked as the sixth-best overall prospect in the state and 46th-ranked small forward in Ohio by 247Sports.com.
As a senior, Nichols averaged 18.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and earned the Coaches Poll Division I Ohio Player of the Year award.
