Iowa State, Tulane, others chasing Levi Lewis and 'the magic in his boots'

Recent offers from Jackson State, Tulane and Iowa State have come even more quickly than Levi Lewis expected.

But the Scotlandville quarterback has been ahead of schedule since the day his current coaches met him.

Robert Valdez and offensive coordinator Kris Peters brought a fast-paced, no-huddle system to Baton Rouge in mid-July after a late coaching change.

And with just four weeks before the Hornets' season-opening scrimmage, the coaches bought 20 wristbands of playcalls to help their players with their transition.

"We wasted money," they both laughed, with Peters explaining: "He picked it up so quickly that he was making line adjustments, sight calls, and he really did so much pre-snap and on the fly that he was really the only person that really needed a band, and everybody else just followed suit.
