Tulane started the game off strong when junior placekicker Andrew DiRocco followed an offensive drive with 41-yard field goal. Although three punts were made by starting punter sophomore Zachary Block, Tulane was unable to raise its lead over Wake Forest. The first quarter ended with the Green Wave leading the game 3-0.
In the third play of second quarter, Wake Forest quarterback sophomore Kendall Hinton made a one-yard run, scoring the only touchdown of the game.
The team was unable to recover from Wake Forest’s touchdown in the second half of the game, despite head coach Willie Fritz’s offensive plans stressing ball control and possession to curb turnovers.
