When Darion Monroe heard that the New Orleans Saints were trying to reach out to him so he could be in attendance for rookie minicamp this year, it was almost a surreal experience for him.
The former Tulane safety started 48 games with the Green Wave from 2012-15, but didn't receive any camp invites from NFL teams following his senior season.
But one year later, the former East St. John standout was brought in on a tryout basis for Saints' rookie minicamp last week and he said it was a "dream come true" to get an opportunity with his hometown team.
