The Devon Walker Foundation held its first annual celebrity basketball fundraiser at Devlin Fieldhouse on Sunday night in an effort to help the New Orleans Police Department.
A portion of the proceeds from Sunday's event will be donated to the NOPD Justice Foundation's Compassion Fund, which provides assistance to families of police officers that are killed or injured in the line of duty.
"It's really exciting to get this event going, so we can try and do something to shed light on the community," said Walker, a former Tulane football player that was paralyzed from the neck down after a hit he sustained during his senior season.
