Tulane has fired coach Curtis Johnson after a second consecutive nine-loss season, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy on Saturday.
Johnson's firing came less than 24 hours after Tulane's 45-34 loss to Tulsa. The Green Wave squandered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead Friday night, losing for the seventh time in their past eight games.
Johnson went 3-9 this season and posted a 15-34 record in four seasons at Tulane. His only winning season was in 2013, when the Green Wave finished 7-6 and reached the New Orleans Bowl.
Johnson, 54, is a New Orleans native who had served as an assistant with the New Orleans Saints before being hired by Tulane.
