Tulane coach Willie Fritz helped resolve some of the lingering special teams issues that plagued the program leading up to his first season, but the one thing Fritz struggled to get under control was the team's problem at punt returner. The Green Wave had four muffed punts last season and the first-year coach shuffled through several different returners in an effort to solve the problem. Tulane had seven players with at least one punt return last season and only averaged 4.1 yards per return (ninth in the AAC).
Tulane's issues with depth were a significant problem last season and the Green Wave are looking to the five early enrollees from their 27-man recruiting class to come in and help fill some of those holes.
