BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Troy women's golf team fired a 12-under 276 in the second round of the Samford Intercollegiate at the Greystone Golf and Country Club on Monday. The round shattered the Troy single-round record by eight shots and the Troy par-72 round record by 12 shots; it was the first under par round in school history.
Troy will carry a 17-shot lead over second-place Charleston Southern into Tuesday's final round. South Alabama is 27 strokes back in third place, while West Georgia is in fourth place and Samford is in fifth place.
Last season, Troy shot a 284 in the second round of the 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate to set the overall single-round record on the par-71 Forest Hills Golf Club.
