KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Troy women's golf team is tied for 11th place following Sunday's opening round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Turtle Point Golf Course.
The Trojans shot 19-over as a team in the opening round and find themselves just eight shots behind of a pair of teams tied for fourth place. Ole Miss fired a 2-over 290 to grab the early lead; No. 43 Chattanooga is two shots back in a tie with Coastal Carolina for second place.
Fátima Fernández Cano led Troy in the opening round with a 2-over 74 as she carded three birdies on the day, with two coming on par 5 holes.
