EUFAULA --- Called one of the most dynamic players in Troy University and Sun Belt Conference football history, Jerrel Jernigan took the Eufaula Tigers and Troy Trojans to great heights, and even helped the New York Giants win a Super Bowl during his injury-shortened NFL career.
Jernigan (EHS Class of 2007) will be joined by another Eufaula Tiger, Gwen Jackson (Class of 1999), and six others in the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018 on Saturday when they will be inducted into the hall during ceremonies at the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center in Dothan.
A knee injury cut Jernigan’s NFL career short – four seasons – and he has returned to his hometown where he is the receivers coach heading into his third season with Eufaula High School.
