TROY, Ala. – Troy junior first baseman William Sullivan was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13thround of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday. Sullivan was the 395th overall pick in the Draft and joins teammate Zach Fruit, who Baltimore selected in Monday's ninth round, as selections in the 2023 MLB Draft.
The selections of Fruit and Sullivan mark the first time since 2018 that multiple Trojans were selected in the MLB Draft – Brandon Lockridge (5th round), Matt Sanders (10th round) and CJ Carter (29th round).
