TROY – Troy senior forward Jordon Varnado made Georgia State pay all game long with his powerful inside moves. Ironically, he won the game with a long 3-pointer from well beyond the top of the key.
Varnado drained a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds to play in lifting Troy to a thrilling 77-75 win over Sun Belt leader Georgia State on Saturday at Trojan Arena.
Varnado scored 32 points for the second straight game in leading the Trojans (10-8 overall, 3-3 Sun Belt).
“I don’t think anybody in our program was surprised at all that he stepped up and made that shot,” a happy Troy coach Phil Cunningham said.
