The Texas-Arlington Mavericks closed the first half on a 26-4 run and continued the onslaught in the second half, leading to a 90-63 thrashing of the Trojans.
It was the worst home loss of the Phil Cunningham era. The previous worst came by 13 to Louisiana-Lafayette in the 2013-14 season, his first at Troy.
“ We’ve been here three years, and I don’t think we’ve let one get away from us like that. That was an embarrassing loss for all of us,” Cunningham said. “Give them credit. They made some shots, but we’ve got to be better than that and show more fight than that.
