Former Troy coach Larry Blakeney and defensive back Freddie Thomas earned spots on the 2019 College Football Hall of Fame ballot released Monday.
Blakeney, the Trojans' coach from 1991-2014, appears on the ballot for the first time. He is one of six coaches up for induction, along with Jim Carlen (West Virginia, Texas Tech, South Carolina), Pete Cawthon Sr. (Austin College, Texas Tech), Dennis Erickson (Idaho, Wyoming, Washington State, Miami, Oregon State, Arizona State), Billy Jack Murphy (Memphis) and Darryl Rogers (Cal State East Bay, Fresno State, San Jose State, Michigan State, Arizona State).
Blakeney coached the Trojans from 1991-2014, during their transition from Division II through Division I-AA to FBS play, and is the all-time winningest coach in Sun Belt Conference history with 69 victories.
