Troy’s Kayler ties NCAA record with 4 HRs

BOONE, N.C. — Sophomore Carli Kayler tied an NCAA record with four home runs, set one with 17 total bases and tied a 1-day-old school record with nine RBIs to lead Troy in a 25-19 win at Appalachian State on Saturday.

She singled in the first, hit a two-run homer in the third, a three-run blast in the sixth and two two-run shots in a nine-run seventh.

Hannah Day, after a three-homer, nine-RBI Friday, had two homers and six RBIs.

The Trojans (21-7) scored their most runs since joining Division I in 1994, the same year they beat Tennessee State 24-1.
