Mississippi State sports one of the nation’s toughest defenses, but Troy’s top-notch offense – led by two Magnolia State products who are returning home – could provide the Bulldogs a challenge today.
The Trojans, ranked eighth in points per game, will take on the Bulldogs on their home floor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (1:30 p.m., ESPN2). Bulldogs head coach Vic Schaefer has developed a reputation for fielding strong defenses – as evidenced by Mississippi State’s current 55.4 points per game allowed average – but two of Troy’s three best scorers hail from the Bulldogs’ backyard.
