Troy's Brown hoping for more leadership from QB Silvers

Troy coach Neal Brown is hoping quarterback Brandon Silvers will lead a lot of new faces on the Trojans' offense, particularly at his position.

That is especially the case since Silvers took a grayshirt and redshirt before playing a down of college football. Additionally, the two freshman quarterbacks – Sawyer Smith and Elba’s Ramsey Rigby – were in high school three months ago.

“He’s an older person for a junior,” Brown said following Tuesday’s opening practice. “He’s a grayshirt-redshirt, so he’s one of the oldest if not the oldest guy on the football team, so he’s got to be able to take the reins and lead.
