NASHVILLE, Tennessee – The nation's top offense met one of the top defenses, and on this night the defense won as the Troy women's basketball team fell to Vanderbilt, 97-43, at Memorial Gym on Thursday night.
Troy (3-3) started out poorly, committing 10 turnovers and shooting just 3-of-14 in the first quarter as Vanderbilt (8-2) raced out to a 27-8 lead after the first frame.
The Trojans partially cleaned up the turnovers, but the shooting percentage never got better, and the Commodores shot 57 percent (37-of-65) on the night to slowly grow the lead throughout the game.
