OXFORD, Miss. – Troy’s women’s basketball team crushed Ole Miss 71-54 on Wednesday night, the program’s first victory over an SEC opponent in 21 years.
Troy led for almost 37 minutes in the game at The Pavilion. The Trojans (8-2) are off to their best start since moving to Division I in 1993.
Kayla Robinson led the Trojans with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, and three teammates also scored in double figures. Amber Rivers had 13 points and eight rebounds, Harriet Winchester and Japonica James scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Troy’s last win over an SEC team came against Mississippi State in 1997.
