LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – It was a battle for second place, and for the second straight game the Troy women's basketball lost a late lead, this time falling to UL Lafayette, 56-53, at the Cajundome on Saturday evening.
Troy (10-7, 5-3) got a career-high 17 points from Ta'Kierra Gibbs, including 13 in the first half as the Trojans led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter.
The Trojans led by 12 points at halftime and by six, 41-35, entering the fourth quarter. However, the Trojans committed seven turnovers and got off just nine shots in the fourth quarter as UL Lafayette (14-3, 7-1) outscored the Trojans, 21-12.
