TROY – UAB couldn’t keep pace in places a lot of Troy opponents can’t keep up, but the Blazers dominated the final three minutes and dominated the paint to earn a 93-89 victory in the Women’s NIT on Thursday night.
In front a Troy women’s record crowd of 2,451 at Trojan Arena, the lead changed hands 26 times with 10 ties. It was played at a dizzying pace. The Trojans and Blazers combined for 152 shots in the 40 minutes.
UAB (26-6), which plays the Arkansas-Houston winner in the second round, erased a seven-point Troy lead in the final three minutes.
